National Railway Museum

Hello, from the National Railway Museum in York, England. I’d love to share a little something I learned today which made me think of how far we’ve come in communication.

When chefs ran out of supplies during their journey, they
hollowed out a potato, put a note inside and threw it from the train at the next signal box.

The signaler telegraphed up the line and everything they needed would be waiting at the next station.

I’m grateful I don’t have to throw potatoes out to you guys in order to share this bit of info. ☺️

What a wonderful day and I thank you for connecting with us.

♥️ Sandy
