Let it Begin With Me

When you come to the edge of all the light you know and are about to step into the darkness of the unknown. Faith is knowing that one of two things will happen. There will be solid ground to stand on or you will be taught to fly.

While many of us have heard the song, “Let there be peace on Earth,” in various interpretations, the song was actually written in 1955 by Sy Miller and Jill Jackson. She said she wrote it after finding the “life-saving joy of God’s peace and unconditional love.” She also shared that she was suicidal before writing the song, and before God’s peace broke through to her.

“When I attempted suicide ( in 1944 ) and I didn’t succeed, ” she said, ” I knew for the first time unconditional love- which God is. You are totally loved, totally accepted, just the way you are. In that moment, I was not allowed to die, and something happened to me, which is very difficult to explain. I had an eternal moment of truth, in which I knew I was loved, and I knew I was here for a purpose.”

This very same awakening and understanding came to me and has since changed my life.

Such simple, beautiful and poignant thoughts, for each of us to ponder, as we wake up and step out into each precious gift of a new day. May each one be filled with so many blessings, within and around.

Let there be Peace on Earth
And let it begin with me
Let there be Peace on Earth
The peace that was meant to be

With God as our Father
Brothers all are we
Let me walk with my brother
In Perfect Harmony

Let peace begin with me
Let this be the moment now.

With every step I take
Let this be my solemn vow
To take each moment and live
Each moment in peace eternally

Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.

With every step I take, may there be peace and I shall let it begin with me.
